When you cook with a wood fired oven, you can relax when you entertain, knowing you can easily feed the masses or cater for a family meal.
A woodfired oven is an investment in lifestyle. But how do you choose the right one?
Gut instinct is a good starting point – we are talking wood fired ovens and the flavoursome foods they create, after all – but we’ve also compiled a guide to help you digest the questions you might have about how to choose the best wood fired oven for you and your family.
One of the best things about our wood fired ovens is that they are ALL available as a DIY Kit or preassembled. The same components go into both DIY and preassembled ovens. The only difference is, for DIY you build it from scratch, and for preassembled it comes to you ready to install.
Our DIY Kits are a best seller – customers love our instructions and real-time support (if you need us, we’re only a phone call away).
Our preassembled ovens come on a concrete slab, ready for you to install on your stand or bench. Please note that preassembled ovens cannot be removed from the concrete slab.
Also, our ovens do not come on a stand.
Will your wood fired oven be undercover in your alfresco area or out in the open? While the optimum location for your wood fired oven is undercover, all our ovens are designed to handle the elements, provided you follow the necessary steps to keep moisture out of the dome.
Once you’ve decided where your oven will go, measure the space available. This may even determine the oven you can get! Our ovens come in three sizes:
Our compact Courtyard model is a perfect fit if you have a small alfresco area. For those with the space for a whole outdoor kitchen, the Midi might be your go-to. If you have a large property, our Original wood fired oven will keep things in proportion.
Our preassembled ovens come attached to a reinforced concrete slab. The dimensions for these slabs are:
If you choose the DIY option, you’ll need to purchase a slab separately or pour your own (but you can use these measurements as a guide to work out the space you need).
Consider how many people are in your family and how often you entertain. The key measurement you need is the internal cooking area. Here’s the internal cooking area of our three oven sizes in pizza terms (30cm diameter – medium pizza):
Of course, you can use your wood fired oven for baking, roasting, frying, grilling, and stewing – not just pizzas. If you can picture your oven floor in terms of pizzas, you can do the maths quickly enough to work out the oven you need!
